The Best Autumn Candles for Cosy Seasonal Living
There’s something about autumn that makes fragrance feel especially important.
As the evenings get darker and the weather turns cooler, home becomes somewhere we naturally want to spend a little more time. Candles are part of that shift for me - lighting one in the late afternoon, making something warm to drink and letting the house settle into a slower pace.
That feeling is exactly what inspired this year’s Cicely & May Autumn Collection.
The collection includes three hand-poured soy candles - Spiced Pumpkin, Baies, and Fig & Cedar - each one bringing a slightly different side of autumn into the home.
Spiced PumpkinIf you love a classic autumn candle, Spiced Pumpkin is the obvious place to start.
It blends pumpkin with warming cinnamon and clove, creating a cosy, spicy fragrance that instantly feels seasonal. It’s comforting without being overly sweet, and it works beautifully in living rooms, kitchens and anywhere you want to create that unmistakable autumn atmosphere.
This is the candle I’d reach for on a chilly evening, with a blanket, something good on the television and nowhere else to be.
The fragrance notes are:
Pumpkin · Cinnamon · Clove
For anyone searching for a cosy autumn candle, a pumpkin scented candle, or a warm seasonal home fragrance, this one really captures the feeling of the season.
BaiesBaies is a little more elegant.
It combines blackcurrant with soft rose petals, fresh citrus and musk, giving it a beautifully balanced fruity-floral character.
There’s a freshness to it, but also a deeper, more polished feel underneath. It’s not as obviously “autumn” as pumpkin or spice, which is exactly why I love it - it gives the collection a more sophisticated side.
I’d describe Baies as the fragrance to choose when you want your home to feel calm, elegant and quietly luxurious.
The fragrance notes are:
Blackcurrant · Rose · Musk
If you prefer fruit and floral candles, or something that feels refined rather than overtly seasonal, Baies is a lovely choice.
Fig & CedarFor something warmer and slightly deeper, Fig & Cedar is the one.
Ripe fig and cassis are softened by jasmine and rose, with cedarwood and musk adding warmth at the base. The result is smooth, fruity, woody and incredibly easy to live with.
It has a sun-warmed quality to it that makes it work beautifully through autumn, but I can also imagine lighting this one throughout the year.
The fragrance notes are:
Fig · Cassis · Cedarwood
Three Ways to Enjoy Autumn at Home
Together, the three fragrances give you very different moods.
Choose Spiced Pumpkin when you want something warm, familiar and properly cosy.
Choose Baies for something softer, fruitier and more elegant.
Choose Fig & Cedar when you want depth, warmth and a more woody, sophisticated fragrance.
All three candles are hand-poured in small batches in our Lancashire studio using soy wax, premium phthalate- and paraben-free fragrance oils, and cotton and paper wicks.
Each 180ml candle has an approximate burn time of 30 hours, and we offer free UK delivery on every order.
You can also discover all three together in The Autumn Collection, which includes one of each seasonal fragrance.
For me, autumn fragrance is all about creating atmosphere; making home feel warmer, softer and a little more special as the season changes, and I hope you agree these three fragrances do exactly that.
Love,
